Meet D.J

About DeJay Sax — My Journey Through Sound

Hey! I’m DeJay Sax — a smooth jazz and R&B saxophonist, music educator, and DJ. Whether you found me through a live show, a sax cover online, or one of my practice packs, I’m glad you’re here.

🎶 Music Found Me Early

I started playing sax in school band like a lot of folks… but for me, it never stayed “just a class.” From the moment I heard that first clean, soulful tone come out of the horn, I knew I was hooked.

As I grew, so did my influences: Grover Washington Jr., Gerald Albright, Kenny G, Najee — then later, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, and the richness

of gospel, soul, and neo-soul. I didn’t want to just play music… I wanted to feel it. And I wanted it to sound like me.

🎧 Saxophonist Meets DJ

As my career expanded, I stepped into DJing, which gave me a whole new appreciation for rhythm, arrangement, and the vibe of a room. Blending my live sax with DJ sets became my signature — and opened up a whole new world of creativity.

Today, I combine both: smooth saxophone playing layered over modern R&B, soul, and jazz grooves. I perform, produce, and teach — helping others find their sound along the way.

🎓 Why I Teach

I’ve taught students from all over the world — beginners trying to get started, intermediate players stuck in a rut, and advanced musicians who just need the right phrasing or tone tweak to break through.

Teaching isn’t just something I do — it’s something I love.
If I can help you skip years of frustration and finally unlock the tone, rhythm, and confidence you’ve been chasing, that’s a win.
